Auf einen Skin Tonic mit....

To a skin tonic with....

In our section "A skin tonic with..." we talk to women who inspire us and who have something to say. Above all about natural cosmetics. And about why. Without the raised finger, that is out of place here. Our main aim is to give you new ideas and approaches for conscious consumption, to make you curious about innovative and sustainable products and to introduce you to great women. Grab a skin tonic, make yourself comfortable. We say: Cheers! and start our new series with Mia Bregar from Bern.

She is a sought-after hair and make-up artist who works for well-known magazines and fashion brands. Her first publication, "Protect Your Magic - The Vagina Issue", a photo magazine about the female sex, has just been published. She lives a vegan lifestyle and makes some cosmetics and household items herself, such as detergent. She is also a virtuoso of hair coloring - in her studio Loft & Go she really does the most beautiful hair colors in all of Switzerland.

Mia, what do you do for a living?

First and foremost, I am an entrepreneur and a mother. I have turned my apprenticeship in beauty into my career and successfully juggle the disciplines of hair & make-up artist, creative direction and beauty consulting.

Your personal highlight in the last 12 months?

That I have found my way from a "work-life balance" to a "life-work balance". I was also able to work on a freelance project with the Zurich photographer Walter Pfeiffer.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I like most about my work is that it is positive and that it makes other people happy. Whether it is in my consultations or in my work as a hair and make-up artist - it is always about recognizing the beauty of people, highlighting it and enhancing it.
The joy of my customers about the results is what makes me happy.

How do you best deal with stress?

In the professional environment, I can immediately define stress as stress and have learned to quickly “wind down” until I feel balanced again.
I'm still practicing in the interpersonal area...

What are the beauty trends for fall/winter 2018?

DIY products - of course! You make your own deodorant, detergent, creams, etc. on a natural basis. There are lots of instructions, blogs, and tutorials on the internet that explain step by step how to do it and where to get the raw materials. I'm now experimenting and modifying the formulas and mixing ratios, which is how new and exciting variants and recipes are created.
Another trend is the switch from conventional to natural cosmetics.

why natural cosmetics?

I could write an essay about that! To put it bluntly: conventional cosmetics are unacceptable for ethical, health and ecological reasons.
Download the free Code Check app and scan any conventional product. I can guarantee you: If you get that result, you'll throw the stuff in the bin immediately!

Your clean routine goes like this:

First, I clean my face with a damp cotton pad and organic coconut oil, e.g. from Alnatura . This loosens and binds surface dirt such as make-up and mascara. Then I use the Face Wash from Earth Tu Face , which I apply to my face and neck in circular movements with a Dr. Sponge Konjac sponge . This cleanses deeply and thoroughly.
At the end, I always apply Dr. Hauschka's facial toner – it immediately refreshes and soothes the skin.

If you need something quickly:

Just use a facial toner – it will conjure up a fresh, rosy complexion in no time!

your tip for a bad hair day?

If you're in a hurry and your hair isn't quite fresh anymore: massage a little hair powder into the roots and tie your hair into a loose bun on top of your head.
But actually, there is no such thing as a bad hair day! It's always a question of time management and how much effort you want to put into your hair.

Your ultimate beauty trick:

Pinch your cheeks a few times, my grandmother already knew that.

Your ultimate beauty tip:

No cigarettes, no alcohol.

Your three favorite products are:

facial tonic from Dr.Hauschka
Broccoli Silky Conditioner from Rivelles
Lavera Deep Darkness Mascara

At the top of your beauty wish list is:

I want the perfect vegan and natural make-up that I can also use in film and photo productions. A camera-compatible formula probably still has to be invented; so far I have not found a make-up that I am 100% satisfied with.
