Sun protection for the body

PROTECT. ENJOY. REAPPLY.
SUN PROTECTION FOR THE BODY – UVA AND UVB PROTECTION FOR SUNNY DAYS

Sun protection for the body helps to protect uncovered skin from the effects of UVA and UVB radiation. Different textures such as sun milk, spray, oil, and sun sticks allow you to adapt the product to your skin type, everyday life, and activities.

Our selection includes sun protection with SPF 30 to SPF 50+ as well as formulations with mineral or modern organic UV filters. What is crucial is proven UVA and UVB protection, generous application, and regular reapplication.

UVA AND UVB PROTECTION – WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

UVB rays are primarily responsible for sunburn. The stated sun protection factor refers mainly to protection against this radiation.

UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin and contribute to premature light-induced skin aging. Suitable broad-spectrum protection therefore takes into account both UVA and UVB radiation.

In addition to the sun protection factor, pay attention to the UVA label on the respective product. No sunscreen can block UV radiation completely.

SPF 30 OR SPF 50+?

SPF 30 offers high protection and, when applied in sufficient quantities, is suitable for many everyday situations. SPF 50 and SPF 50+ offer very high protection and are particularly useful in intense sun, for longer stays outdoors, and for sun-sensitive skin.

The stated sun protection factor is only achieved if the product is applied in sufficient quantity and evenly. An insufficient amount significantly reduces the actual protection.

MINERAL AND ORGANIC UV FILTERS

Mineral sunscreens use UV filters such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Depending on the formulation, they can leave a visible film or slight white traces after application.

Modern organic UV filters absorb UV radiation and convert it mainly into heat. By combining different filters, balanced UVA and UVB protection can be achieved with light or transparent textures.

Both types of filters must demonstrate their stated protective performance in standardized tests. "Mineral" therefore does not automatically mean better tolerated, and "organic" does not mean less effective.

SUN MILK, SPRAY, OIL, OR STICK?

Sun milk and lotion can be spread generously over the body and are particularly suitable for regular use on arms, legs, and the torso.

Sun protection sprays allow for quick distribution. They should be sprayed generously into the hand or directly onto the skin first and then carefully distributed. A fine mist alone does not guarantee an even protective layer.

Sun oils combine sun protection with a supple texture and a shiny skin finish. They must also be applied in sufficient quantities.

Sun protection sticks are particularly suitable for smaller, highly exposed areas of the body, scars, tattoos, shoulders, or other areas where targeted application is desired. Multiple passes are necessary for even protection.

SUN PROTECTION FOR DIFFERENT SKIN NEEDS

Normal skin can choose between lotion, spray, oil, and stick depending on preference. For dry skin, richer textures with plant oils and nourishing lipids are often suitable.

For sensitive skin, it is recommended to take a close look at the ingredient list. Fragrance-free products with a clear formulation are often the more suitable choice. However, mineral UV filters are not automatically better tolerated by every sensitive skin type.

For skin prone to blemishes, light, non-greasy textures may be more comfortable. New sun protection products should first be tested on a small area of skin.

WATER-RESISTANT DOES NOT MEAN WATERPROOF

Water-resistant or very water-resistant formulations are particularly suitable for the beach, water sports, and activities that cause sweating. However, the label does not mean that the protection remains indefinitely after swimming.

After swimming, heavy sweating, or drying off, the sun protection must be reapplied. This also applies to products advertised with extended UVA protection duration.

HOW TO APPLY BODY SUN PROTECTION CORRECTLY

Apply sun protection generously and evenly to all uncovered areas of the body before going outdoors. Depending on body size, approximately 30 to 35 ml are needed for an adult's entire body.

Do not forget ears, neck, shoulders, décolleté, hands, knees, tops of the feet, and the backs of the legs. Reapply sun protection approximately every two hours as well as after swimming, sweating, and drying off.

With sprays, ensure that every area of skin is sufficiently wetted and the product is carefully distributed. Follow the instructions of the respective manufacturer.

SUN PROTECTION IS MORE THAN SUNSCREEN

Sunscreen is only one component of comprehensive UV protection. Intense midday sun should be avoided if possible. Clothing, headwear, sunglasses, and shade complement the protection.

A high sun protection factor should not be used to unnecessarily prolong time spent in the sun. Babies and toddlers should not be in direct sun.

MODERN SUN PROTECTION FORMULATIONS

Modern sun protection products combine tested UVA and UVB protection with different textures and skincare concepts. Mineral formulations, transparent sun fluids, nourishing oils, and practical sticks offer various options for everyday life, vacations, and outdoor activities.

The decisive factor is not just the type of UV filter, but that the product suits the skin type and application, is applied generously, and is renewed regularly.

In short: sun protection for the body with SPF 30 to SPF 50+, mineral or modern organic UV filters, and different textures for everyday life, vacations, and outdoor activities.
