Everyone has their own ritual when it comes to their beauty routine. And intuitively, we do most things right, follow our skin's needs and listen to the advice of experts. We have examined these tips and yes, according to leading dermatologists, it is true that you can increase the effect of the care products many times over if you follow a certain order. Because creams, toners and serums can complement and support each other if done correctly. The principle is called "skincare layering".
In the following 4 steps, we will show you the basis of skin layering. As a rule of thumb, water-based products are always applied before rich creams and oils. The latter form a protective barrier and then hardly allow any active ingredients to pass through.

Step 1: Cleaning
Without thorough cleansing, the subsequent care products cannot be absorbed or effective. For example, serums or creams can become crumbly due to dirt and excess sebum.
The latter can also lead to impurities on the skin. Depending on your skin type, we recommend a gentle cleansing gel, cleansing oil, foam or cleansing milk.
We recommend treating the skin weekly with a deep cleansing mask or peeling .
Step 2: The toner
If you read our blog regularly, you have certainly read our article on the topic of "toner" :)
It cleanses the skin, clarifies and refreshes, cools and soothes and protects against germs. Depending on the ingredients, it reduces skin pigmentation and prevents pimples, it balances the pH level and its light texture does not weigh down the skin. When you use a toner , the skin can absorb care products better. It works like a sponge: when dry, it is hard and not very absorbent. When it is wet, it becomes soft and much more absorbent. The serum or cream is therefore better absorbed after using the toner and has a more intensive effect. This saves you money because you need a smaller amount of care products.

Step 3: The Serum
Pure power thanks to high-dose serums ! A serum can do much more than a conventional cream, which is sometimes reflected in the price. But they are worth it because they are enriched with intensive, powerful active ingredients that give the skin a real boost. They also absorb faster - and therefore better and deeper - because they have particularly small molecules. A high-dose serum therefore provides intensive moisture, smoothes the skin, prevents impurities and makes your complexion radiant. It is best to apply the serum to damp skin directly after the toner, so that the moisture is immediately locked in.
Step 4: Cream or oil - and sun protection!
To ensure that the serum can develop its full effect, you should then seal the active ingredients with a rich cream to protect the skin barrier and retain moisture. Here, too, look for care creams that have a built-in SPF. For particularly dry skin, we recommend facial oils, which can either be added to the facial cream with 1-2 drops or used pure. In high sunlight (including in the mountains in winter), it is recommended to apply a high sunscreen as the last step, which serves as an efficient protective shield for the skin if it is integrated last into the skin care routine.
