SO FAIR, SO GOOD
Living sustainably is becoming more and more a question of faith - even in the lifestyle world. Oh, you pretty things founder Rahel Morgen explains in the Annabelle special edition "God, money, love, lipstick: a whole issue on the subject of faith" why she has dedicated herself to this principle professionally and talks about her favorite labels, tips for home and fashion dreams.
Which sustainable fashion brand is your favorite?
Stella McCartney . She goes her own way and uses her fame to raise awareness of the problems of fast fashion and the use of animal materials, as it cannot be denied that there is a very close connection between fur, leather and the environment. She once said: "I design fashion that is meant to last. I believe in creating pieces that are not burned, do not end up in landfill and do not harm the environment."
Enough said.
Which sustainable product should everyone know or have?
The teapot "to go" from
Femna has revolutionized my drinking habits. It's also a good alternative to coffee "to go" in a paper cup. Femna's teas are also fantastic; they were developed by experts to improve women's well-being in a natural way. Problems such as period cramps, PMS, cycle fluctuations or menopause can be addressed with natural products instead of hormones or painkillers.
Your favorite natural cosmetics brand and/or product?
NUORI from Denmark, which has a freshness concept that is unique on the cosmetics market. NUORI products are freshly manufactured in small batches every 6 months. This guarantees 100% effectiveness, as the active ingredients are not weakened by time-dependent decomposition. The protective premium packaging minimizes the effects of air, light and bacteria before and during use. This is why every NUORI product has the highest, guaranteed effectiveness. In my opinion, NUORI also has one of the most beautiful product designs! My favorite is the Vital Foaming Cleanser, a luxurious, creamy facial cleanser that thoroughly removes all impurities and makeup residue without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Pomegranate enzyme and radish root extract gently and effectively remove impurities and dead skin cells, oat kernel extract and natural betaine provide highly effective antioxidant protection, combat redness and irritation and ensure smooth, supple and refreshed skin.
Your favorite shop (online or offline) for sustainable cosmetics?
Anemo has a beautiful, aesthetically delicate imagery. This website was the inspiration for the founding of Oh, you pretty things.
Carbon Beauty: Everything is so colorful and trendy, here natural cosmetics are presented in a different context, I really like that!
The Swedes from
Alice & White always have the latest brands and products and always serve as a source of inspiration for me.
What are your sources of inspiration for sustainable cosmetics?
I am most inspired by the people behind the brands. Most of them had previously worked in a completely different job, but had a vision. For example, the founder Judith Springer of
Fine Deo . She first worked as a lawyer, then as an art curator and finally as a yoga teacher before she invented the very best natural deodorant.
Furthermore, I am always happy to meet women in my daily life who I can learn from, for example
Mia Bregar from Bern or
Gabriela Projer from Zurich. Both have incredible knowledge of natural cosmetics and make many of their everyday products themselves. I was able to get both of them to interview me for my “A skin tonic with...” section.
Do you have any tips on how to easily bring more sustainability into your bathroom cabinet or (beauty) life (apart from buying less)?
Many things can be made quickly from ingredients that you already have in the kitchen. Coconut oil is great for removing make-up or as a hair treatment, and you can make a great relaxing bath from lavender and coarse sea salt. You can also make a wonderful body scrub from coffee, sugar and olive oil. And everything is 100% biodegradable!
True to the motto "less is more", it is completely sufficient to use fewer products and use them in a more varied way. A good oil, e.g. the "
Talisman Face Potion " from LilaSkin, replaces serum and night cream and can also be used on the ends of the hair. A few drops of it in the day cream also serve as an extra moisture boost.
Which sustainable fashion piece or cosmetic product is at the top of your wish list or which product are you currently saving up for?
Fashion piece: I have invested in good, classic pieces over the last few years and am therefore completely happy. However, I am saving up for a wedding dress or a skirt from
Kaviar Gauche , which combined with a T-shirt is absolutely suitable for everyday wear. This way I avoid wearing it just once.
Beauty product: Before the wedding, I treat myself to the
Plankton Enzyme Cream from Raaw by Trice, a superfood cream and absolute fountain of youth!
